INGREDIENTS |

1) Put all ingredients in order in bread machine pan. |
2) Select dough cycle. When done, remove from machine, punch down, cover and let rest 10 minutes. |
3) Divide dough into 9 portions. Working quickly, shape each into a smooth ball. Use thumb to punch a hole in center of each, pull to make a 2 inch hole. |
4) Place on a large, greased cookie sheet, cover, let rise 20 minutes. |
5) Broil 3-4 minutes, turning once, do not let tops get brown. |
6) Simmer bagels 7 minutes, turning once, in about 1 1/2 quart water with 1 T sugar dissolved in it. Drain on paper towels. |
7) Put back on cookie sheet, brush tops with a mixture of slightly beaten egg white and 1 T water. Add toppings now, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion bits, etc. |
8) Bake at 375 degrees 25-30 minutes or until tops are golden brown. |
Serve warm or toasted with cream cheese or butter. |
